The Feng Shui of a bedroom is very important as we spend many hours in our bedrooms in comparison to the office. It is important to realize that while we sleep our bodies try to heal themselves from the stresses and strains of day to day living. The aim here is to create more harmony in our lives.
The bedroom should only be serving two purposes:
•To support and aid in a good night's sleep
•To provide the space for sharing intimacy
•A third, possible function, would be to store our clothes and to get dressed in
A feng shui bedroom should only be focused on these things. It should give you a sense of freedom to move around and a sense of enclosure.
There are some tips for couples who want to use feng shui principles in the bedroom:
•Both partners should be of equal importance in the bedroom
•One partner should not dominate another in any way and one partner should never feel as if they are being squeezed out of the bedroom
•Both partners' needs should be met.
There are some tips for singles who want to use feng shui principles in the bedroom:
•People who are single think differently to couples and generally they think along a more solitary line. This could show itself in pieces of artwork or in the images that they have in the bedroom.
•Have two of everything like two bedside tables, one on either side of the bed, or if you have little knick knacks in the bedroom, try to pair them up
•Make sure that the space in the bedroom is not crammed; this could come across into your personal life as you not having space for anyone in your life.
General tips for people who want to apply the feng shui principles into the bedroom:
•Avoid having your feet in direct line with the entry to the door of your bedroom when you sleep, (the same applies to the window if the window sill is below your body's height when you sleep). The Chinese call this the "death" position. By enforcing this principle will improve your health and vitality.
•Try not to sleep with your head directly under the bedroom window. Feng Shui says it damages the liver.
•Avoid sleeping under things that hang down from the ceiling or under beams. This includes overhead cupboards, or 45 degrees off sharp corners which poke into your bedroom. This includes a partly open door which points to you whilst you are asleep. All of these generally generate sha lines, which can often be the cause of aches and pains in the parts of the body that gets hit by them.
•If you have sloping ceilings in your bedroom, it is a good idea not to sleep with your head near the bottom of the wall at the foot of them, as this is another source of sha.
•Do not sleep with your head near any form of magnetic field, such as a TV or computer - this includes any on the outside bedroom wall. The magnetic fields are very bad for your energy fields.
•Open mirrors or other reflective surfaces in the bedroom should be avoided as it is often the cause of why people don't get a good, decent, sound night's sleep.
•Be aware of any pictures that you have in your bedroom and the symbolism of any of these pictures as these pictures may very well be the first things that you see when you wake up and they could subtly bring those things into your life. Also the content of the picture may interfere with the feng shui in that part of the room and this could be good or bad.
•If you have a TV in the bedroom-remove it. It invites strangers into the sanctity of the bedroom every time it is put on, bringing along with it, the harsh outer world. It also distracts from each other if you are sharing the room with a partner.
•Your bed should be easily accessible from both sides.
•Close all bedroom doors at night- including en suite and closet doors - as this will allow a good, positive, nourishing flow of energy to strengthen your health and also to strengthen the health within your relationship.
•Color is usually used to help enhance a certain type of energy (element) or to balance the Yin and Yang relationship. Use any color that is comforting and relaxing.
Your bedroom is your inner sanctum and should be a peaceful, comfortable place.By applying feng shui principles you will get that and so much more.
