Feng Shui Basics and More

For many years now, feng shui has been part of people's lives as it influences the attraction of prosperity and good luck. It originated in China and most people there believe and apply the principles of feng shui in home building, interiors, space innovations and many more. It has also greatly influenced the Westerners because it has given them positive effects. So what is feng shui all about?

According to the ancient philosophers in China, the universe is surrounded by a certain invisible energy that is called "chi". This chi is flowing endlessly within the surroundings and if properly kept or situated, will bring prosperity and harmony. From then on, the applications and wide use of feng shui has already been introduced to different people all over the world. But this is commonly used in home building and in creating infrastructure to promote balance and harmony within the establishment.

Have you ever noticed being dragged by a wonderful ambience or atmosphere as you enter a house? Well, if yes, then that strongly signifies that it is surrounded by positive chi that is why it brings such bliss. Feng shui experts have continued to advise people on feng shui tips for a better life. If there is the so-called positive chi, there is also the opposite, the negative chi. Sharp angles and very closed spaces may trigger the formation or stagnancy of chi. If you are thinking of buying a new home, it is best if you let a feng shui expert see it first. In this way, he or she can tell you whether the house has good placements and if feng shui dwells within. Alternatively, if you are thinking about building a new home in another location, then ask the help of a person who knows feng shui by heart.

The house is typically composed of a dining room, kitchen, bath room and the bed room. In every part of the house, it is crucial that good atmosphere and cleanliness is attained. You can try feng shui tips for adding earth element to enjoy absolute tranquility in the comforts of your own home. A feng shui expert can really help you with that. So what are some tips and helpful suggestions to achieve the right feng shui in the bedroom?

As one of the most important part of the house, the bed room is the place where one sleeps and rests. And getting enough rest will reciprocate proper circulation and will bring good health. What could be the best figure or shape of the bed room? They say that the most suited shape for the bedroom is a rectangle or square. Irregular and curvaceous rooms may not promote the steady flow of chi. Next thing comes the bed placement. The headboard should be placed against the wall and not in the very middle of the room. Do not leave the back of the bed hanging with a large amount of space because there would not be much support and balance.

Another thing, never place the bed against the window because this may have a significant effect on your sleeping patterns. The window is where the active energy flows in so make sure that you do not place your bed in that location. If you have no choice but to put it that way, then make sure that you cover your windows with heavy and dark-colored curtains. Moreover, the bed should not be placed in front of the door. Placing the bed in view of a door might cause sleeping problems because the flow of chi is directly in front. Move your bed in such a way that it is not facing any door and is not against any window.

Sell Your Home 82% Faster With Feng Shui

What the heck is Feng Shui? Originating in China almost 6,000 years ago, Feng Shui literally means "wind"(Feng) and "water"(Shui). It is also referred to as "Geo-mancy" or "Earth Wisdom" -- an ancient method of constructing and optimizing residences to bring about happiness, abundance and harmony. It includes architecture, urban planning, interior design, garden design, and placement of objects in our environment. It also involves the layout, framework, materials and colors of building structures.

There are different types or "Schools" of Feng Shui. This accounts for a great deal of confusion. The two oldest schools are the Form School, which addresses external and internal environments and their effect on the occupants and the Compass School, which uses a compass to determine the orientation of a home and therefore its prosperity.

We use the Form School and Compass School, because we have found them to be the most effective methods. Why is staging with Feng Shui important? When people walk into a home for sale, they decide within 15 seconds whether they want to buy it.

What if your home could attract not only buyers, but money, success or even love? Feng Shui practitioners believe that arranging your environment can enhance your life in all of those areas. Now that Feng Shui is finally becoming a household word, people are starting to embrace it for use in staging their homes for sale in the cooling real estate market.

THE FIRST IMPRESSION: The Entrance! In China, red is supremely powerful. It represents relationships, fame, reputation, and wealth. It's also a fabulous color to paint your door. It's very welcoming, and it leaves no guesswork up to potential buyers. They will be able to find the door quickly and easily. It also conveys that the owners are powerful, and even thwarts burglary!

CURB APPEAL.....A curvy walkway that leads buyers to your front door is not only good Feng Shui, it's good curb appeal.

Plant some colorful flowers, especially red ones, and make sure to fix anything that is broken or dirty. If you house is overgrown with shrubs, have them trimmed back. Buyers need to be able to see what they are buying.

An imaginative paint job is another way to play up your house. If you are lucky enough to have interesting architectural details, use different coordinating colors to maximize the effect. Yellow is welcoming and it makes the house feel grounded.

BALANCING OUT SPECIFIC ROOMS

If a client's home has a room that is all wood paneling, we would say it had "too much Wood". We would balance out the wood by adding metal and fire, to "bring the wood down" a bit. Metal and Fire could be literal, or figurative. A metal table would qualify as "Metal", but so would a large gray rug, since gray is the color of metal.

Adding Fire might mean adding red candles all along the mantelpiece of the fireplace, or figuratively, painting some of the walls red, which is the color of Fire. Oftentimes home stagers place a bowl of fruit out in the kitchen. A Feng Shui consultant might place that bowl of fruit in the South East corner of the kitchen, or the "Wealth Corner", since fruit is a symbol of wealth, to pump up the wealth of the occupants while they are selling the house.

TOP TEN FENG SHUI HINTS FOR SELLING YOUR HOME

Make sure you cannot see a toilet from the bed. If your bathroom is directly in view, mask it with a decorative Japanese screen, or hanging curtain.
Make sure your feet are not pointing out the door while in bed. This is the "death" position. If you have to angle the bed, do it. The bed should be symmetrical - with matching nightstands and lamps.
A headboard is key. If you don't have one, get one, or make one. Paint the bedroom a soothing, light, neutral color, such as green, gold, taupe or beige.
Clutter is the opposite of Feng Shui. Go for S-P-A-C-E by clearing out EVERY unnecessary item from your home
Paint your door red
Let there be light! Add lighting or mirrors to blah areas to pump up the energy.
Keep your porch and outside lights on at night! Make sure people can see your house numbers - make them large!
There shouldn't be any heavy beams or heavy light fixtures directly over the bed. You can paint beams the same color as the ceiling to make them visually "go away".
When planning seating arrangements, make sure no one has their back to the door.
Go for Yin, as well as Yang. Make a nice flow throughout the house by adding a round dining room table.

AROMATHERAPY It may seem obvious, but the best thing you can do for your home is to clean it (thoroughly) and remove all the clutter. When selling, you want to affect all the senses of prospective buyers. Even if the place looks amazing, a cat box smell can be a real show stopper.

Light some pleasant smelling candles during your open house, or simmer a small pot of water on the stove with cinnamon or other spices in it. It will fill the home with a smell of something baking in the oven.

Men's favorite scents? Fresh cut grass, apple pie, and vanilla. If you can find a way to have all three going at your open house, bravo! [Interesting note: "Tommy Girl" perfume contains all three scents...]

Women's favorite scents? Warm scents (like vanilla) top the list of Midwestern women's favorite scents. Women in the South go for clean/soapy scents. Almost everyone loves lavender and roses.

THE KITCHEN - The #1 Deal Maker or Breaker ~ If you can swing it, the biggest bang for the buck is replacing outdated fixtures, countertops, etc, with inexpensive but lush-looking solutions....such as:

a stainless steel "cover" for your dishwasher - which will instantly update it.
paint your fridge to match updated appliances (use appliance paint - see more below)
a concrete poured counter - stain any color you like, then seal
tiny glass mosaic tiles for the backsplash - a great shot of color
In both kitchen and bath, you can regrout the tile - in lieu of replacing it - for a fresh, clean look.

REGARDING YOUR FLOORS: Vinyl tile and linoleum are the most cost-effective quick fixes, but make sure you choose something that either looks REAL, or desirable. If you go with vinyl, choose one that looks like stone, not one that looks like vinyl.

Environmentally friendly linoleum has recently made a comeback. You could do a really retro checkerboard with two modern colors - like alternating brown and robin's egg blue tiles. Of course you want to update the whole kitchen with the same scheme - so paint the walls and/or cabinets to coordinate with whatever you choose for the floor.

A WORD ABOUT CABINETS:Men tend to love demolition. Before the man in your household pulls out the sledgehammer, consider this:

The fact is, probably 80% of kitchen cabinets out there can be salvaged! Many just need a coat of paint, or stain (dark stains are in). Remove the cabinet doors, take them outside, and sand them before painting or staining.

New hardware (drawer and cabinet pulls) covers a multitude of sins, and can steer your kitchen into the 21st century. Pay attention to contrast. For example, if you go with dark cabinets, make sure walls and floors are lighter, to create contrast, and keep things light.

FINAL STAGING TIPS FOR THE KITCHEN: In the kitchen, stage it so people can imagine cooking there. A large bowl of Granny Smith apples is a wonderful design touch. Or, put a bottle of wine on the table, with a decorative cheese and cracker plate next to it. Help the buyers use their imaginations.

THE BATHROOM: THINK SPA In Feng Shui, the bathroom is about getting rid of waste - consequently, you want to make the experience as pleasant and "spa-like" as you can. Add some plants, seashells, or other things from nature. Spring for some new colorful towels to quickly change the vibe. Remember, a can of paint costs about $25 and it provides the single biggest impact.

To create the illusion of space, many people are replacing their old sinks with new "retro" pedestal sinks, which create visual space by exposing more of the floor.

If you prefer a vanity/sink combo, go to a stone & marble place and ask for a granite "remnant". Use this as your countertop for a really luxurious and updated feeling. You'll save a lot of money this way - especially if you do the demo yourself. If your bathtub is basically in good shape, but has resistant stains, it is possible to apply a new coat of enamel with a paint sprayer. Get a professional to do this for you. Look in the yellow pages under "bathtub resurfacing". You can also change the color of a dated tub to something more neutral this way.SUPER TIP FOR THE BATHROOM:Scour your filmy shower door with one part muriatic acid and 10 parts water. Scrub it with steel wool. After rinsing, your shower door will look brand new.

THE MASTER BEDROOM Should Appeal to both Men and WomenIt should appear large, balanced, and "gender-neutral". This means that a flowered bedspread and pink walls are out. A classy duvet cover is a great inspiration for a design theme. Colors like beige, brown, cream, yellow, gold, maroon, and green are "gender-neutral".

If you need help, call the pros. People definitely need to see the master bedroom as a large, luxurious space. Remove personal items, such as framed photos, and stacks of papers. The buyer wants to picture what it would be like to move right in. Having personal items around makes them feel like an outsider.

Make sure everyone is included! Two nightstands, two lamps, etc. Symmetry is a good thing in the bedroom.
Seeing the outside from the bedroom is a big plus. If you can, install French doors that lead to the garden.

LIVING ROOMS - focus on fireplaces, seating and lighting:

If you have a fireplace, consider yourself lucky. If it's blah, you can quickly add zing by either painting it a contrasting color to the wall, or painting just the fireplace wall a different color from the rest of the room to make it pop.

If the actual mantel is uninspiring, you might consider adding decorative hand painted tiles on the surround, for example.

NOTE: If you have a historic home, do not do any major work to the fireplace without consulting a professional. You could seriously bring down the value of your home by disturbing original elements.

Keep items on the mantel to a minimum. Just a few key pieces is all you need. Put at least one tall, dramatic item on the mantel - a vase with flowers, a tall statue, candlesticks, a topiary, etc.

Hang either a key piece of artwork over the fireplace, or a mirror - but make it dramatic.

When grouping your seating, make it "L-shaped", or "U-shaped" not "confrontational". In Feng Shui, when two couches are placed opposite each other, it actually causes people to become confrontational with each other, instead of having a nice flow of conversation.

To make the room feel more formal, make sure each piece of furniture has an end or side table. To make the room feel less formal, use a large ottoman instead of a coffee table.

Stage the room with a snack or fruit on the coffee table, and some soft music playing. By all means, unless it's 90 degrees out, have a fire blazing in the fireplace! If your fireplace doesn't work, put a large candelabra inside, and light candles on it.

PLAYROOMS, HOME THEATERS, and BONUS ROOMS: Show off your square footage

Anyone lucky enough to have these types of rooms should pay special attention to their impression. Don't make the mistake of thinking "Well, this room is really big, so they won't notice the:

fake 1970's wood paneling
ugly and stained carpet
horribly mismatched furniture
cold industrial blinds
blah white paint job..... etc.

Sometimes less is more. Take a long, hard look at the room. What jumps out at you as "wrong"? If it's furniture, you are lucky. Remove it!

WHEN IN DOUBT, PAINT! A lackluster paint job is another easy fix. When repainting, make sure you use a gender-neutral color that appeals to the widest audience. If you have paneling that you want to get rid of, paint it! You can degloss the paneling with TSP, or a light sanding.

MAKE SURE TO PRIME the paneling first, before painting. TINT YOUR PRIMER with the color you intend to paint over the paneling. This will save you many coats. Use a low-gloss paint (like eggshell), which will minimize the lines of the paneling.

Since basement rooms are often paneled, I prefer to paint over it, since the vertical lines help give the feeling of height, and therefore space. Furthermore, many a hapless homeowner has removed their paneling only to find a nightmarish situation underneath.

THANK GOD FOR LINOLEUM Did you know that linoleum is back in style? Amazing! There are many new, fun colors available, too. It's very reasonably priced, environmentally friendly, lasts forever, and comes in easy to install tiles. For playrooms, pantries, laundry rooms, and even finished garages, you really can't beat it.

ENORMOUS TELEVISIONS Home theaters are becoming more popular, as people want a place to hide their enormous TV's. Cardinal rule of seating? Try not to have people's "back to the audience". In other words, you don't want to walk in the room and bump into the back of the couch. Make sure you have enough lighting. Lighting can often create a mood that can radically change the feeling in the room.

For example, changing the lighting from fluorescent to an incandescent pink light bulb can take the room from industrial/cold to warm and inviting in about a minute! Pink light bulbs are available anywhere you find light bulbs, and they are VERY light pink - to cast a subtle glow around the room.

PLAY UP YOUR UNIQUE FEATURES: In Feng Shui, water is like money, flowing around you. If you have a water view, by all means play it up.

Other super selling features are sun porches, wraparound porches, guest cottages, detached garages, finished basements, and original historic details. Any way you can distinguish your home will help it sell. To pump up your home's "reputation", place red objects in the southern part of any room. Red is Fire, and Fire is the Element of Fame/Reputation.

Feng Shui and your personal taste

Feng Shui is really an art, or a science, not a style. People often worry that Feng Shui will "clash" with their personal style. Others fear that it is a religion! Feng Shui is definitely not a religion. It is a way of balancing out an environment such that the energy meanders and flows in a beneficial way - and that, in turn, is palpable to the occupants and guests.

People tend to fixate on things they have heard, such as "Purple is wealth". While purple is definitely a prosperous color, if the client doesn't like it, we can offer a variety of other options, depending on their personal taste, and what's best in the environment.

IN CLOSING

Balance is what Feng Shui strives to attain and, whether it's your business or your home, having the right energy flowing through it is crucial. Oftentimes, after we Feng Shui a client's home for selling, they are so pleased with the results, that they decide to take it off the market and stay!

Bring Back Harmony to Your Bedroom With These Feng Shui Tips

Feng Shui has been around for a while and it has been successfully used in all aspects of our lives. Using it allows us to increase the flow of positive energy around us and our lives. Not surprisingly the bedroom is one of the places where it is heavily used.

We use our bedroom to rest, relax and sleep for the most part. This is why it is considered a place that is peaceful, comfortable and where we leave our daily stress behind whether we live alone or with somebody else. With our stressful lives as it is we need to create that tranquil space that allows us to regenerate and be ready to tackle the next day's stress with renewed force and energy. This is why using Feng Shui in the bedroom has become so popular these days in the Western world.

The correct position for sleep according to feng shui is having view both to the window outside and the door to your room. Your head should be against a thick wall that symbolizes security and support. Avoid having your bed facing the door whereby your head, feet and the doorway are in one single line. Also don't have anything hanging over the bed, such as mirrors or construction beams.

Also make sure that your sleeping room is not a warehouse. If you feel it is full of clutter, clear it away to remove all the negative energies that might surround you. All this clutter is like a blocking force that stops the positive energy to flow towards you. Also every morning open the window to get fresh air and welcome the natural air in the room. To clear the clutter means cleaning the mind at the same time, at least according to feng-shui.

Avoid having strong and bright colors in your sleeping place. You should use colors that are calming and relaxing in nature. For a smaller room use even lighter colors than otherwise as this will give the impression of the space being a bit larger.

When it comes to furniture, less is more. Don't have bookshelves in there or a TV as this will disturb the relaxing atmosphere and aura of the room. Also avoid having furniture with sharp edges. Furthermore do not have live plants and aquarium in there as movement means aliveness, which promotes activity, not sleep. It will disrupt your rest.

Finally, make sure that your bed is comfortable and your mattress, pillows and bedframe are the best for your place. No feng shui tip will help you if you don't have a comfy bed in the first place. Waking up mornings with joint pains and neck aches will defy the purpose of your bedroom being an oasis of tranquility and rest.

Financial Feng Shui

Money is on most everyone's mind. A couple of years ago, a man cashed in on a large load of options and became a millionaire in one day. He explained how he never realized how much he thought about money every day until he had enough that he would never have to worry about it again. Now he says he gets all kinds of work done and has had a burden lifted that he had never known how much he suffered under!

This story illustrates a common theme for many people because many people are under the yoke of money. Maybe even you worry about it, think about it, ponder over it, avoid it by ignoring the last three month's of checking account statements and not bringing your balance up to date, or simply hope the problem (overdrawn statements, credit card balances) just go away. And even though you know it's not the best way to handle finances, you may still do it anyway.

Fortunately, feng shui has ideas and remedies that can help create more energy (read: money) to get your finances flowing again. Try these ideas to see if you can't stimulate more prosperity!

o What's in your wallet?

Old scraps of paper, credit cards for accounts you closed two year ago or for accounts you never use? Toss them. And if your wallet is shot, invest in a new one. If you can, select a red wallet to really energize your finances. These are the most auspicious and excellent for generating more money.

Next, be sure your wallet is clean, neat, and organized. If it is close to the start the New Year consider buying a new wallet. Maybe you could request one as a gift every year when the holidays roll around. Make it a part of your standard gift list for holidays or birthdays.

o Clean out old financial files.

Old energy keeps new energy from coming into your life. Do you have old financial information hanging around? If you are hanging on to credit card statements from five years ago, you are probably holding on to too much old financial energy. Usually, items older than 5 years are considered safe to toss. Of course, you shouldn't get rid of old IRS statements! Use discretion when cleaning out your files and consult your accountant if you have questions.

o Be neat and orderly.

Organize your bills and put them in one place. Make it easy and efficient to pay your bills. It's just common sense and good feng shui. And don't just wad money up in your wallet. Treat it with respect and put the bills in there nicely.

o Declutter.

One of the most important things you can do for your finances is simply to clean up. Throwing out junk and getting rid of things like excess paper, empty boxes, and broken items can go a long way toward energizing your home for prosperity. In particular, declutter your SE corner of your home, of your living room, and of your bedroom. This is the wealth sector and if it has piles of junk, then financial chi can't circulate.

o Enhance your prospects.

What direction is best for inviting more opportunity (read: get a better position and earn more money)? See below.

Kua NumberCareer Direction

1North

2Southwest

3East

4Southeast

5 MenNortheast

5 Women Southwest

6Northwest

7West

8South

Not sure about your Kua number? Go to The Red Lotus Letter Kua Calculator to find out what your KUA number is. Make sure you look at the directions above. If possible, make it so your desk faces the SW, is that's your direction. Don't put your back to it, look in this direction.

o Water, water, everywhere.

Well, not everywhere...only in certain places, really. Water equals money. No water, no money. Consider an aquarium in the North sector of your house, provided it isn't a bathroom or bedroom. Don't want an aquarium? Fine, put a painting or print of water, a waterfall, an ocean scene, a picture of turtles or fish....

These are all fine representations of water. Or, if the North is out your front door, paint it black. This is incredible feng shui and one of the few western-style feng shui tips that works especially well. If you paint the door black, consider painting the shutters black too!

Another good water option is to display sailing ships. Display the ships, either in paintings, prints, or figures as sailing into the front door. Those that are not in rough seas are best. Sailing ships represented commerce and were often laden with all manner of precious cargo. In the US, you can often find ship figures at craft stores such as Hobby Lobby or décor stores such as Tuesday Morning and Kirklands.

Why go to this trouble in your North sector? The north represents opportunities and career. If your career advances, most of the time, your earning power does, too. This is why you want to make sure your North sector is well cared for. Gold objects (such as brass items) in this area are also extremely auspicious. Even if your kua number says your success direction is Southwest, I would not miss an opportunity to bolster my North sector. Be sure to enhance both sectors.

o Get more green.

In the Southeast (SE) wealth sector, that is. Put a grouping of 4 plants of varying heights together in the SE corner of your home. If this is a bedroom or bathroom, put them in the SE corner of your living room. Try to select a jade plant as one of your grouping.

These plants are excellent feng shui, provided the plants are attractive, healthy, and well-cared for. If not, these are very bad luck, indeed. If you want, you can use silk plants, but real ones are best. Don't forget to energize the SE corner of your living room with a beautiful plant. Put this plant in a basket or brass planter.

Don't forget Dragon Power! Display a green dragon in the East and Southeast for improved income. You can usually find these online or in Chinese or Asian emporiums or markets. Wall hangings or figures of dragons are equally good.

Avoid having metal in the SE sector of your home or living room because the SE represents small wood (growing chi) and metal cuts wood. If the SE has a toilet there, put a large rock in the bathroom and tie it with a red ribbon. This will "press" down the negative energy of the toilet.

o Get financial backing.

Just like putting a mountain at your back in the form of a picture on the wall will help you get more management support from bosses or superiors, a picture of a financial institution can give you good "financial backing."

Get a picture, poster, or painting of a bank, Wall Street, or other financial institution, and hang it so that it is at your back. Even bars of gold or sheets of money would be good here. This is especially good feng shui if you own a business! Put this artwork behind your register or your desk.

o Check your financial thinking.

That's right, how you think about money is important. There are lots of books that can help here. Some of the best for addressing the mental side of money are Suze Orman's. Did you know couples fight more about money than they do sex or children? Money is extremely personal and people get very uncomfortable talking about it.

Do you have "poor" thinking?

Do you believe that there is never enough to go around or that you don't deserve success and financial security? You should really take a close look at your financial mindset. Consider investing in some books that address your "money mind" -- because your attitude is often the source of financial difficulty.

Maybe you just need more

Many times people think that to gain more money they have to continue to find ways to cut expenses, rather than find new sources of income. Sometimes that means finding a new job, asking for a raise, getting a rental property, or taking a small part time job to bring in more money. Consider if there is something you can do to earn more rather than cut out more from your budget.

Feng Shui Tips for Wealth

What is feng shui and are there any feng shui tips you can use to increase your wealth?

Feng Shui (pronounced fung shway) is a 3,000 year old Chinese process that involves adapting your surroundings or environment to help you attract more positive energy, or chi, into your life.

Feng Shui is looked upon by some as a sort of pseudo science. However, beyond the basic guiding principles is the underlying fundamental assumption that clearing away your mental and physical clutter while bringing in elements of joy, peace and harmony will help improve all aspects of your life. When looked at in that light, how can incorporating these feng shui tips not help you?

Feng Shui means the wind and the water, two of the core elements in Chinese lore. It follows the philosophy that individuals are more or less affected by the surroundings they are in. If you can improve your surroundings, you can improve various aspects of your life.

Along with the basic feng shui guidelines it is essential that you incorporate a willingness to believe that what you are doing will help you. When you decide to Feng Shui your home or office, you are declaring that you want something positive in your life, that you are looking to make a change for the better.

The main thrust of Feng Shui states that what energy you send out to the universe will come back to you. If you have positive energy and send that out, you will get positive energy back.

Creating a feng shui environment is all about creating an environment that will help you attract more positive energy. The more positive energy you attract the more positive energy you'll be inclined to project to others, helping you generate a positive feedback cycle.

In regards to wealth, there are feng shui tips you can use to attract more abundance into your life.

The idea of wealth means a lot of different things to different people. Of course, increased money flow comes instantly to mind. However, being in a state of wealth is not limited to just a financial state. Feng shui is used to increase the wealth of our non material assets as well. That includes helping to foster a calm, clear, relaxed state of mind, as well as a joy for life that is intended to be transferred to our friends, our family, our coworkers, and all we come into contact with. This is real wealth.

There are specific techniques or tips you can use to increase your wealth using feng shui methods. You can bring Feng Shui wealth into your home or office by clearing out negative energy draining elements and adding positive wealth attracting elements.

First impressions are extremely important in Feng Shui; make sure that your home is a home that is warm and inviting. Also make sure it is thoroughly cleaned, organized and clutter-free.

One of the best feng shui tips for wealth is to bring in flowing water into your home. You want the water to be clean and free flowing. This can be easily done by investing in one or more waterfall fountains. They are becoming more common and increasingly sophisticated and beautiful. Along with the beautiful appearance comes the soothing sound of the falling water when the fountain is on lending a more relaxed atmosphere to any environment.

You can also set up a fish tank to attract wealth. Place the fish tank in any room except the bedroom, bathroom, or kitchen. Some sources say that it is good to have a number of goldfish in the tank and one black colored goldfish to attract and absorb the negative energy. If one of the goldfish dies, beyond being sad for the loss, believe that the goldfish has absorbed any negative energy that has been around.

Soothing pictures of water can also be used to enhance the energy flow and attract abundance into your life. You should never have pictures of horrendous water scenes in your home. Avoid any turbulent water or storm type pictures; these can add negative energy to the surroundings as well as your thoughts!

Speaking of pictures, feel free to decorate your home with positive motivational pictures and symbols that will help reinforce the notion that you are an abundance attracting magnet and that your home is the ideal environment for maintaining a super successful attitude.

Where is you feng shui wealth corner?

Do you know which corner of your house is designated as the wealth corner according to feng shui principles?

Wealth can be found in the southeast corner of your home or office. You will need to find the southeast corner of each room. You need to include the bathroom, garage and basement if those are involved. If you have more than one floor you must locate the southeast corner of every floor. The important southeast corners of your home are the bedroom, living room, bathrooms, and kitchen. These are the places where we spend most of our time.

As a result, it might be a good idea to add some water elements in the southeast corner of your rooms. Having said that, some feng shui authorities note that certain geographical areas are better served with certain colors.

While we don't want to get bogged down in the details just know that while the feng shui wealth corner is in the southeast, that the south as a whole is often represented by the element of fire. Hence, without getting too carried away, you might want to limit the water flow to the southeast corner so as not to douse the fire element, often said to represent your own inner fire.

The use of feng shui colors is another consideration when applying feng shui principles to your home or office. For instance, red and green represent the colors of wealth. If you can, place red flowers in your home. These can be real or silk. Also, have live green plants in as many rooms as possible. Not only is this great at bringing the beauty of nature inside, but it can also increase oxygen levels in your house, contributing to your energy level. Keep bowls on your tables filled with produce and fruit; use a small bowl so that you can give the illusion of more.

Declutter your house, and bring in elements of life, light and joy. Allow your home to be a calm and peaceful place to be. The whole notion of feng shui is great as a general guideline. Keep to the spirit of feng shui and you should attract all manner of wealth into your life.

How to Use Feng Shui Tips For Better Love Life

The concept of feng shui lies in creating a positive environment in your home so that chi can move freely through the home. If the path of chi is blocked, then energy in the home becomes stagnant and this is when you start feeling blocked in life where your interest in your love life may tend to reduce.

So it is by learning to balance and make corrections in chi in your bedroom that you will be able to bring some love and romance into your life. And this is done by first cleaning up the bedroom. Once you have a cluttered and untidy bedroom, the chi or energy here becomes low or slow. After cleaning your room, just clap your hands loudly to get rid of any stale and old energy there may be in the room. Some of you may have a habit of working out in the bedroom; however according to feng shui, this is a no no. This is because once you work out in your bedroom, or have any sports equipment in the bedroom, you tend to bring the chi associated with hard work and exertion in the otherwise soft and romantic bedroom. And with this, you only work at turning your relationship into something similar to a tough workout, and not something enjoyable and romantic. So go ahead and move all your sports and workout equipment to some other place so that your relationship gets to move along smoothly. It is but natural for a person to expect to have an improved love life; and with feng shui, this is very much possible. Besides clearing clutter and avoiding exercise and working in the bedroom, you have to work at getting rid of anything that reminds you of a past, failed relationship. This means that you have to get rid of any old photographs, memoirs like sweaters, gifts and cards that you had exchanged with the person who is no more a part of your life. Most important, get rid of love letters from people you no longer have a relationship with.

It is essential that the front door of your house and your bedroom door open without any sticking or squeaking, and that they don't open partly. This is because any thing that is stored behind them tends to block the romantic flow of energy to your bedroom. Even loose doorknobs indicate you're finding it difficult to handle your romance, so tighten it. It is better to place your bed so that there is equal space on either side to ensure that you and your partner enjoy equal enjoyment in the relationship. Having a side of the bed against the wall makes the person sleeping on that side confined in the relationship. The best place for the bed is on the opposite side of the room from the door. If it is not possible to see the bedroom door form the bed, you could try hanging a mirror for a reflected view of its entry to the room. Try this and you will soon see an improvement in your love life.

Feng shui is very effective in improving the quality of your love life. Besides the few feng shui suggestions mentioned before, you could consider creating a collage of images related to your perfect relationship. Then place this collage in an area which you will see everyday, as feng shui says that this way, you will be reminded of your wonderful relationship everyday. It would be better to do and complete the collage with the help of your partner. A good place to place the collage, and any other form of romantic artwork is the wall opposite the base of your bed and the part of the room that you see first when you enter it. This improves the romance chi in the bedroom and leads to a much more fruitful relationship. You could place fresh or silk flowers, romantic things like birds, decorative pillows and candles in pairs or a round mirror in the bedroom to improve the effects of romantic chi in the bedroom.

And if your partner is to live with you, make sure that there is sufficient room in the bedroom not only for storing their belongings, but also for both of you to make and feel love. Practice these feng shui tips to see an increase in the feeling of romance in your relationship.

Feel Better At Work With A Feng Shui Office

Have you ever wondered how a Feng Shui office may help you at work? Your office or workspace is one of the most important areas of your environment, next to your bedroom. With this in mind, it is no wonder that how we feel at work can affect our whole lives.

Having a Feng Shui office is one of the best things you can do for yourself and your life. When you have a Feng Shui office it is possible to get much more work done with less stress and frustration. Improving your working environment is a good way to add harmony and happiness to your life.

For the ideal work environment or Feng Shui office, it is best to have an individual room to yourself as apposed to the cubicle, or sharing the space with other things. In other words, if you work at home don't try and squeeze your office into your living room or bedroom. Your workspace should be individual and separate from other areas of your home.

If you work outside of the home, it is best to have an office to yourself, though not always possible. Your office should be in a square or rectangular shape. Natural lighting is best so if at all possible; choose an office with at least one window.

Though it is more difficult, it is still possible to have a Feng Shui office, even if you are sharing your office, or working in a cubicle.

If you work in an office that is of an irregular shape, try adding a mirror to the room. Plants seem to help with this situation as well.

Another way to help turn a cubicle into a Feng Shui office is to ensure that you can see the entrance to your cubicle from your desk. Position your desk so that it is facing the entrance. If you are unable to move your desk to an area that allows you to see the entrance, try placing a small mirror in a position that will reflect the entrance so that you can easily see it.

These few tips are just the beginning of what you can do to improve your working environment by creating a Feng Shui office. Learn all you can about improving your working environment with Feng Shui and you will be amazed at how much better you feel at work and how it increases your productivity.

10 Simple Tips to Feng Shui Your Home

Feng Shui is essentially the practise of enhancing the energy or "chi" within your home to bring more harmony and balance. Listed below are 10 simple things you can do to begin the process.

1) The pathway leading up to your front door should be clean, neat and have a smooth flow. Any dead plants or weeds should be removed. If your pathway has sharp corners, soften them with lush, healthy potted flowers/plants. Your porch should also appear neat clean and clutter free. Healthy plants/flowers on either side of the front door will make your entrance feel warm and inviting. The front door should be well lit at night to help lift "chi".

2) Upon entering your home, the entry way should appear spacious, open, clean and clutter free of shoes, bags, jackets, etc. If space allows, family photo's on the walls or a table that fea-tures family photo's and trinkets that reflect those who live in the home, is very auspicious.

3) Clutter brings with it negative feelings. Clear all your rooms of unnecessary clutter taking over the rooms. Anything that blocks you from easily getting from one area to another should be re-arranged so that energy can flow easily through each room.

4) Your home is your haven and should only contain items that you enjoying seeing. Any bro-ken items should be repaired or removed. Donating unwanted items to a shelter or charity would be a great place to take all your unwanted treasures.

5) Burnt out light bulbs should be replaced as soon as possible as this creates stagnant "chi".

6) During daylight hours, open as many doors and windows in your home as possible. (Maintain a comfortable temperature.) Filling your home with the suns rays and fresh air also fills your home with positive chi. This also helps to lift your spirits.

7) Plants are a wonderful way of creating beauty and "sheng chi" in your home. Plants fill a room with life and oxygen to clean the air. They must be healthy and not "take over" the room. Too many plants in one room creates clutter and can block "chi" from flowing from one area to another. Distribute them around your home in various rooms. Lush, large round leafed plants and flowering plants are the most auspicious. Avoid spike plants.

8) Sound is a wonderful way to clear "sha chi" or negative energy within our homes. The sound of a piano, beautiful music, a bell or pendulum clock are all effective ways of convert-ing negative energy into positive.

9) Bedrooms should reflect a peaceful calm place to rest and sleep. Desks, computers, exercise equipment or TVs are all objects that will create the opposite effect in a bedroom. They are disruptive to your sleep and to the energy in the room. Headboards should never be placed against a wall that contains water pipes of any kind. Fountains or running water should also be kept out of the bedroom. Clutter of any kind should be organized and redistributed to closets, storage or donated. Clutter in the bedroom also smoothers romance.

10) Avoid circular designed furniture in the bedrooms. The circular shape will create a flow of chi that is too rapid for the room and could result in restless sleep.

Most importantly,

keep things simple and surround yourself with only things that bring feelings of joy and that are pleasing to you.

These are the first steps to creating balance and harmony in your home and in your life.

Bedroom Feng Shui Tips for Romance

The Bedroom is an important part of your home in which you spend a significant amount of time in everyday, and the Feng Shui of the room has a great impact on your personal and romantic relationships. A couple's problems or a single's inability to find a suitable partner may stem from a poor Feng Shui arrangement of the bedroom.

Here are some useful Feng Shui tips for your bedroom which can be easily applied to help enhance your relationships and to find romance.

Tap your Star of Affinity Direction

This involves finding your Gua number and sleeping in the direction of your Yan Nian or Star of Affinity direction. This helps in enhancing your relationships and making you more attractive to others, thus bettering your current relationship or increasing your chances of meeting people. Use the Gua Number Calculator to find and tap into your favorable directions. If you find that you are unable to tap into this direction, try at least to avoid the other 4 inauspicious directions.

Always have your bed's headboard against the wall

If your headboard is not against the wall, Qi flows behind your head which may cause instability and also affects your sleep. Imagine the sounds of a river running behind your bed as you are sleeping and you will have an idea of how this affects your rest. Avoid the having the headboard on the same side as the bedroom door This is because we want to avoid the retreating weak Qi which has come in from your bedroom door. The way Qi flows in an enclosed space is that it enters your room through the door and circulates before leaving your room; think of it as a draft of wind coming in and gradually losing strength before exiting. This also explains why we should not sleep in the direction facing the door as we also do not want the incoming Qi to rush towards us; this is based on the Static School of Feng Shui where we look at the flow of Qi and how it moves within your home.

Avoid Plants or Water Features in the Bedroom

Fresh plants and flowers are living and active which represent Yang energy, too much of Yang imbalances the Yin nature of a bedroom and may cause rifts and problems with your significant half in addition to interfering with your sleep. Also do not have any moving water features in your bedroom such as fountains and fish tanks or water symbols like paintings of rivers and lakes as it can cause infidelity and marriage problems; this does not apply to attached toilets and small non-significant water such a drinking glass or jug of water.

Avoid Mirrors facing your bed

The main reason being that such reflective surfaces reflect your bed when you and your partner are sleeping in it, doubling the number of people in the relationship. Its quite simple to see how this works and its effects are that it may encourage the possibility of third parties entering the relationship. If possible, only have mirrors on the same side of the wall as the headboard or place them inside your wardrobes or in your bathrooms.

How to Go About Unlocking the Secrets of Feng Shui

Feng shui is the ancient Chinese custom of orienting buildings and other structures for the proper flow of energy. Increasing the flow of positive energy 'chi' or 'qi' is the principal object of this art. There are many different styles of practice today but the ultimate goal in unlocking the secrets of feng shui remains the same which is aligning the space with chi. It is currently enjoying a lot of popularity throughout the world.

Feng shui is Chinese for wind and water, though it is hardly ever used in that sense. It is the study of the interaction between the various elements and the flow of energy. The yin and yang are the two opposing kinds of energy that try to overpower a space. The aim of the science is to make sure that the positive energy 'chi' is dominantly present.

Some scholars believe that feng shui practiced with a compass may be quite accurate in predicting the state of the environment. When used to align buildings and big structures, the ancient practitioners might have been orienting the building according to magnetic fields and hence probably achieved the miraculous effects. Even so, more often than not, it is impossible to build our houses according to the principles of feng shui. And sometimes the ideal alignment may involve knocking of a couple of walls or altering the functionality of a room. Not everybody may have the luxury to follow through. But, a few tips can be followed to avoid stagnant negative energy and to keep the chi flowing.

It is the thumb rule of feng shui to have ample ventilation and a constant access to fresh air. Most rooms have to be bright either with natural or artificial lights to have good chi. The colour of paint on the walls also account for the energy of the house and its occupants. Lighter hues make the rooms look airy.

For the living room, the rules are simple. Keep it well-lit and naturally airy. Place the couch facing the door. If that is definitely not possible, place it in such a way that the main door is visible from the seat. Never, ever, face away from the door while you are seated. Use a couple of mirrors and lamps if you want to brighten any corners.

For the bedroom, soft, dim lighting should be used. A good bedroom must balance excitement and peace. The bed should have a sturdy headboard to give stability and protection while asleep. When lying down, you must not face a mirror. Neither should your headboard be made of mirror.

Avoid having a television, treadmill or other heavy electronic equipment in the bedroom. It creates negative energy that jars with the chi. Avoid storing anything at all below the bed to promote chi flow. Place the bed in such a way that it is not up against a wall on the sides or the bottom and make sure the bedroom door is visible from the bed. This promotes a sense of space and well-being.

The basic rule is to avoid clutter at all cost. Clutter stagnates chi energy. But, like all other sciences, feng shui should be applied properly and used with a sprinkling of common sense to have any tangible effects.

Feng Shui Don'ts

These are a list of Feng Shui no-nos that may be put into consideration when undergoing interior decorating. These tips will help you avoid pitfalls and negative energy from entering one's home.

If you are a career person, your work desk shouldn't be directly in line with a door, or under a beam. You will be in the line of Sha, or bad Qi this way! Do reposition your desk. If this is not a feasible option for you, place a potted plant in front of your table to soften the blow.

For the bedroom, Yang colors such as red, orange and bright yellows are simply not good for you since the too-active colors will keep you up, or give you with listless, unrefreshing sleep! Try to incorporate relaxing and subtle colors instead. Dragon images are also not a good idea for the bedroom.

Wooden overhead beams on ceilings in the home are very inauspicious, especially if you sleep below them! If removing them is not an option, hang auspicious items such as a faceted crystal above you. This will 'soften' the negative Qi and make it safe for you.

Don't install any water features (aquariums, fountains and the like) in bedrooms! This is considered very unlucky. Spiky plants such as cacti in sleeping areas are also a Feng Shui no-no. On second thought, keep cacti and bonsai plants away from your home interior or office entirely!

If your front door is right below the stairs in your home, this is inauspicious since bad Qi can collect in this area. Try relocating your main door to another spot, or simply place a lovely potted plant at the stair area.

Miniature ships are wonderful symbols of wealth attainment, but do remember to point the mast towards the interior of your home and not facing a door or window. This may lead to your wealth 'sailing' away! This goes the same for your chan chu, or Money Toad too. Don't direct its head towards a window or door - keep it nosed towards the home.

When you make a purchase of crystals for Feng Shui or healing purposes, do not immediately put them to use - remember to cleanse them for the best usage. Cleansing a crystal is easy, simply submerge your crystals in a basin of distilled water overnight and you're set! I have found that this is infinitely easier (and more fuss-free) than procuring seawater or sea salts for this purpose.

Don't place your Buddha statues in the kitchen or bedroom. The best places are the dining room, lounge or living room - basically, areas where family or friends converge. Don't place your Buddha on the floor, but place it on an elevated area!

No fireplace or lampshades in the Southeast or West location for year 2006. This is because these particular areas are currently housing the ever-malignant stars #2 Black and #5 Yellow, and the Fire element will only strengthen these stars' negative influences. If removal of the Fire element influence is not possible, heavily decorate these areas with Yang natured Metal cures, such as brass dragons or deities to weaken the Earth element of this area.

A staircase right in the middle of the home is a huge Feng Shui no-no because a 'missing' central location of the home spells bad Feng Shui.

8 Classical Feng Shui Tips For School Success

Good energy in a child's bedroom environment can make it easier to study, learn and grow.  Feng Shui principles can be used to nourish your child's health, imagination, confidence and ability to get along with others.  In addition, by surrounding children with a general feeling of safety and security, harmonious energy can enhance their well-being and ability to learn. Let's take a look at how Feng Shui can help encourage success at school.

1.  Designate a separate space for doing schoolwork.  Ideally, your child's bedroom should include a study area equipped with a desk, chair, and a lamp. This sends the message that studying is an integral part of the child's life. If placing a desk in the child's bedroom is not possible, then designate a space in your home specifically for doing homework. You want to avoid the "temporary" feel of working on a dining room table, for instance, where papers and books are constantly being cleared away to make room for "the real purpose" of the room.

2.   Place your child's bed correctly.   Authentic Feng Shui will place the child's bed in the direction harmonizing his or her energy with the unseen energies in the room.  If you don't know this position, a good general rule of thumb is to "ground" the energy of the bed by placing it against a solid wall diagonally opposite the door.  Your child's bed should not share a wall with a toilet - this is not good for health.  Ideally it is best for the bed to have a solid headboard, and avoid bunk beds that can leave children feeling either pressured or insecure.

3.  Watch the clutter.   Clutter in a child's room can build very quickly.  Clutter vibrates with so much jittery energy that your child may find it hard to sleep or concentrate.  This can be particularly troubling if the clutter is shoved under the bed where it can keep the child from resting easily through the night. You must be vigilant about keeping clutter under control.  Make it a regular practice to work with your child to weed out old clothes, broken toys, and anything that is outgrown and gathering dust. Tell children that you're making room for new things to flow into their lives and you'll find that room cleaning can become a favorite activity!

4.  Use serene colors.  Bold, primary colors are fine for toys, but unleash harsh energy in a child's bedroom. Be careful, too, with what you hang on the walls.  Avoid posters or images of aggression, violence, or conflict. Images like these can over-stimulate a room's energy, leading to hyperactivity or agitation.  Instead, surround children with soft, warm colors and art that is cheerful, calm and inspiring.

5.  Remove TVs from children's rooms.  The electromagnetic force in a TV can strengthen any unseen energies in a room, creating a negative influence.  Plus, with so much violence depicted on TV, it is not a good idea to have a child watching TV in a room and not being monitored.  In addition, putting a TV in the bedroom may send the message that watching entertainment is equally important as studying and resting.

6.  Cover or remove mirrors.  If your child suffers from nightmares or has difficulty sleeping, it could be the mirrors in his bedroom. Some children are very sensitive to mirrors.  The effect is intensified if children can see themselves in the mirror when they are lying down in bed.  If you have the slightest reason to suspect that mirrors are overly energizing the room, cover or remove them at once.

7.  Display works that reflect achievement.  When your child looks around her room, make sure she has the satisfaction of seeing that others value her hard work. Academic awards, sports trophies, photos from a recital or drama production, and positive notes from teachers all help your child build strong self-esteem and the confidence to take on new challenges.

8.  A place of one's own.  You may not be able to give each child his own room, but you should give each child a personal space.  In a shared room, for example, each child might have his own bed and his own desk.  This helps children develop a "sense of self" and a respect for the property and personal boundaries of others. It also creates a "haven of harmony" so that even if the roommates don't share the same energetic makeup, they can both have a space that supports them.

Remember, we spend a third of our lives sleeping in our bedrooms. Add playtime and study time, and children can spend even more time there!  That's why balancing the Feng Shui of your child's bedroom can make such a big difference in making this the most satisfying and successful school year so far!

Did You Know That Your Health is Part of Feng Shui?

Everyone knows a well-balanced diet and exercise is good for your health, but Feng Shui can be too. If used correctly, it can help point your health in the right direction. There are three areas - the bedroom, bathroom and kitchen - in your home that have a strong connection to your health.

In all three of these rooms, you want to try to let in as much natural light as possible. Light is a strong source of energy, which will result in good Feng Shui. If you live in a home that doesn't allow for a lot of natural light, there are other ways to bring light in. Smart, indoor lighting will also suffice as well as using your Feng Shui colors as light.

Also, it is important to have fresh air circulating throughout your home. Breathing in clean, fresh air on a regular basis is essential for your health. To ensure your air is clean and fresh, try using air-purifying plants or simply open up windows as often as possible.

Another thing to keep in mind in these three areas is the amount of clutter. Clearing clutter is important in Feng Shui. Clutter brings negative energy to a space and it drains that energy from you. Take a walk around your house and look for areas that appear cluttered and begin to work on those target areas. Specifically, look at what's in your kitchen too. Cleanse you kitchen by getting rid of unhealthy foods and make an effort to keep those kinds of foods out. Just remember, the less clutter you have, the better energy your home will have.

The Feng Shui of your home definitely has a direct impact on your health. So, keep these tips in mind and continue to work towards a home with positive energy, which will eventually, lead to a healthier you.

Feng Shui Interior Design Tips For General Wellbeing

This ancient Chinese notion can help us in designing and decorating each part of our premises, including the living room, bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, and even the yard. In this article, we offer some easy tips for improving indoor rooms.

Bedroom feng shui interior design: the bedroom is the place where most of us spend over eight hours a day, which is a large enough period of time to consider improving this room particularly. Specialists advise using calming and relaxing shades in this room, such as warm and light pastels. It's also advised to have furniture with rounded corners, which will help to smooth everything out. You may want to use a red object in the bedroom to promote love between you and your partner.

Living room feng shui interior design: The living room is the place where the whole family gathers together to chat or have some family fun. This room needs to have the freest possible flow of good Qi energy. Here's how you can achieve it: add light to any dark corners (lamps, mirrors) and free up space by removing any unnecessary furnishing items. For the same purpose, try to arrange the seating in a semicircle or octagon, and move the seating that may be blocking the windows. Make sure that the chairs and sofas make it possible for those sitting on them to see the living room door.

Kitchen feng shui interior design: the kitchen is another popular place to be. Here, you may also want to use light colors, but cooler than in the bedroom, such as light blue and light green. Using utensils and appliances made of stainless steel can also add to the beneficial flow of energy. If you have an overabundance of any element in the kitchen (wood, metal), try to add other elements to balance the room. If you have too much wood, you can add metal accessories. If you have too much metal, you can add a plant that will constitute wood.

Bathroom: The bathroom is the place that cleanses us and our homes from negative energy. The entire sewer system serves to cleanse us and our homes, both on the physical and the subtle energy level. It is advised to have a very bright and pleasant lighting in the bathroom, in order to help it get rid of the bad energy. You can also consider installing a small window in here, to help natural light penetrate into the room.

Try to liven up the bathroom with attractive objects, such as plants, vibrant sponges, and soft mats. You may also want to consider starting to use aromatic oils in here. You can either have a special bottle that's always opened, or simply add a few drops of essential oil into the bath water each time you take a bath.

Listen to your intuition and do some minor changes, and you will soon feel the positive energies starting to flow freer in your entire home, improving your life as a whole.

Back to School Feng Shui

Every school year parents and students dutifully trudge through the malls in search of the perfect sneaker or the cool new outfit for the coming school year. However, it's unlikely that the new shoe or shirt will benefit them as much as a new design in the bedroom. That's because a bedroom makeover will create new interest and energy - what feng shui calls "chi" - in the bedroom that will benefit a child.

According to feng shui, the Chinese technique for design and arrangement, rooms that have good energy, or "chi", create happier, well-adjusted children. Feng shui theories suggest that for a child's room to have good "chi," the room must follow certain guidelines such as that they must be restful, promote good relationships others and generate good self-esteem. Perhaps most importantly, harmonious children's bedrooms encourage good study habits and promote greater success in school.

What does it take to promote greater success in school? According to feng shui, the following seven tips are key to creating rooms that inspire kids to study.

1. The room has a desk. It sounds obvious, but many kids' only workspace is either a bed, the bedroom floor, or the family dining table. Every child needs a suitable study area in the bedroom that includes a desk, chair, and a lamp. Children with study areas are more likely to study. Better still, having a study area keeps all the school books and papers confined to the child's room. Feng shui also believes it's best for children to study facing the northeast, the direction of wisdom and learning.

2. Ground your kids. Buy your kids a globe to promote interest in geography and to help "ground" them and encourage them to study. Add a globe in the Northeast corner of the bedroom, if possible.

3. Create an achievement corner. Every child needs to have recognition for a job well done. A perfect way to gain this is to create an achievement corner on the South wall of the bedroom. According to feng shui, this is the recognition area and is a good place to pin up awards, papers with good grades, letters of recommendation, ribbons or trophies.

4. Hang a crystal in the Northeast corner of the room. Crystals are used to make computer chips faster. Hang a crystal in the study location to create more "study" chi and to help sharpen the child's ability to "process" or think!

5. Put your child in the command position. Avoid having children face a wall when studying because this represents an obstacle. They should be able to see the door when someone enters.

6. Display maps and other educational artwork. Maps are another way to ground educational pursuits. They encourage "worldly" interest and curiosity and they make suitable images for a child's room. Avoid scary creatures, pictures depicting violence, or sad or dark subjects.

7. Eliminate TV from the bedroom. Sadly many of today's children have TVs in their bedrooms. This is a feng shui no-no because it can make children much less likely to study and rest fully. If your child doesn't study as much as you would like and has a TV in the bedroom, ask yourself what is more important: television or school?

8. Shells and fish are symbols of education. Conch shells and koi or goldfish are excellent symbols of educational success. Place the conch shell in the Northeast corner of the bedroom. Or, hang a picture of koi or goldfish in the Northeast corner. It is not recommended to keep live fish in the bedroom as water in the bedroom is associated with loss.

17 Simple Feng Shui Tips for Attracting More Love and Romance Into Your Life

As you know, I am a true believer in creating more love in the world. Love is one of our highest and lightest resonances or frequencies. That means it feels great! When we raise our own resonance, we ultimately contribute to raising the resonance of the planet.

Just imagine the world with more romance and love!

Below are some powerful ways to attract more love and romance into your life.

1. Standing at your front door, notice the far right corner of your home. This is the relationship "power spot" of the house. It's the perfect place for symbols of love. You will find this same relationship "power spot" in the far right corner of all the rooms in your home.

2. Does energy flow into your bedroom with ease? Check to see if the path to your bedroom is easy to get to and your bedroom door swings effortlessly and is in good shape. Noisy, sticky and clashing doors and drawers can create chaos and arguing in the house. Keep things flowing smoothly and you will have a smooth and flowing relationship. To invite more energy into your room, hang a larger crystal ball or pleasant sounding wind chime directly outside the bedroom door secured with a red ribbon.

3. Place your bed in the commanding position of your room, or along the farthest wall or corner from the door. Make sure you can easily see the door from your bed, but that it is not directly in the line of the door.

4. Have a solid and strong headboard and footboard on your bed. The head of the bed should be against the wall or in the corner at a 45-degree angle. Do not have your headboard against or below a window.

5. Hang a round mirror in your bedroom to create more harmony in your relationship.

6. Get rid of all energy of past relationships. A new bed is a powerful symbol of fresh opportunities. Your bed and mattress hold the energy of all who have slept on it. Both should be new to you and your present lover. Toss old photos, gifts and letters from anyone but your current partner.

7. Choosing the correct color for your bedroom is important. Pink, white and red are the colors of love and romance. Use peach if you welcome a new relationship. Green and blue help with balance and health. Dark colors attract depression and isolation.

8. Fresh flowers and plants bring fresh energy into your relationship. Adding healthy plants to your bedroom can make a large bedroom feel cozier, and symbolize new life and growth. Avoid prickly or spiky plants such as cacti and spider plants, which create symbolic daggers in your relationship. Make sure they are healthy and vibrant, just as you desire in your relationship.

9. Think pairs in the bedroom. Two bedside tables, two pillows, two lamps, two candles. Look out for single objects, unless of course you are happily single.

10. Display only photos of you and your partner in your bedroom. In creating a space for intimacy, it's important to keep photos of family and friends in another place.

11. Keep your bedroom for sleep and romance only by getting rid of all distractions. This includes TVs, stereos, phones, exercise equipment, desks, computers, and excess furniture. Keep this room simple and flowing. Create a romantic ambiance by placing candles, flowers, beautiful artwork and items where you can enjoy them.Keep your bedroom for sleep and romance only.

12. A bathroom in your bedroom can leak energy from your relationship lessening trust, passion, and connection. By all means, always keep the door shut and the lid to the toilet seat down.

13. A fireplace in the bedroom can burn up energy, causing exhaustion and strain in the relationship. You can cure this by placing a potted plant in front of it, keeping the flu closed, and refrain from use.

14. Having an outside door from your bedroom can lead to many problems in the relationship including disconnection. Hanging a wind chime in front of the door regulates the flow of energy, keeping you feeling safe and secure.

15. Do you have a beam over your bed? If so, this can cause constriction and pressure on your relationship. The ideal cure is to hang two Feng Shui flutes at 45-degree angles, one on either end of the beam. It is helpful to paint the beam the same light color as the ceiling. If possible, move your bed away from the beam.

16. To attract new romance, place a red flower in a white vase in the far right corner of your bedroom. You can also use the color peach in your wardrobe, bedroom, and living areas, but don't forget to change it to pink when the relationship begins!

17. Visualize your intention when creating your space. See your relationship deepening, strengthening and blossoming. Feel the love amplifying and trust that it is already on its way to you! One way to do this is by collecting photos, words and phrases that symbolize your perfect relationship. Place them on a board or keep them in a special spot where you will see them everyday. Infuse them with your desire and imagination, trusting this or something better is on its way!

Apply The Ancient Art Of Feng Shui For Good Wealth, Prosperity And Health

In feng shui study, the main entrance is considered the mouth where external qi enters and flows to the rest of the house. The facing, design, shape and size of the front door is believed to have a significant impact on the luck, wealth and the general well being of the family.

In the selection of the iron gate for the main door, one should avoid using arrow or spear designs. Sharp structures will create destructive energy that brings health problems to the family.

Based on the principle of a good feng shui design, the size and design of the front door must match the outlook and floor area of your home. Ideally, the main door should also have an auspicious measurement as dictated by the feng shui ruler. For example, a big house with a small entrance will restrict the inflow of qi into the house, thus, affecting the luck and wealth of the occupants.

Main door should open into a bright open area to invite yang qi (life force) into the house. Main door that opens into a wall will restrict sunlight and will not provide a smooth passage for qi to enter the house.

Main door should not form a straight path with the back door. Qi that enters the house will be funneled out through the back door without having enough time to circulate around the house. A quick exit of qi will hurt the finances of the occupants. They tend to experience difficulty in accumulating wealth or saving their income.

Avoid cluttering the entrance of the house with obstructive objects (like old newspapers, toys or large cabinets). Unnecessary objects or furniture will block the flow of qi into the house, thus, affecting the luck of the occupants.

It is inauspicious to see the toilet door upon entering the house. Bad vibes from the toilet will rush towards the main door causing poor health and bad luck.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Living Hall

The living room is both a leisure area and a place for the family to entertain their guests. Living room should give a warm relaxing and welcoming feeling for one to tone down after a day's work to read papers or to watch television. Good furniture arrangements, proper lighting and colour scheme will enhance the flow of qi and create an inviting atmosphere in the house. This in turn will bring forth a flow of good fortunes and opportunities from friends, colleagues, bosses or business associates.

It is inauspicious to seat under the downward pressure of the roof columns and to place the sofa without the support of a wall.

Cluttering the living room with unnecessary furniture or possessions (like toys, cabinets, old newspaper and documents) will restrict the circulation of qi.

Ideally, the sitting arrangement of the sofa should have the support of a solid wall and that one should have a clear view of the main door.

Decorating the house with antique figurines will increase the Yin qi of your home. Antique figurines unearthed from ancient sites tend to carry the energy of its previous owners and may attract spirits.

Avoid placing too many empty vases around the house. Empty vase is known as kong ping in Chinese, which sounds like poverty.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bedroom

On an average, a person spends about one third of their time resting in bed. As the bedroom is a sanctuary where one rejuvenate and nurtures the energy of the body, the location and facing of the bed will affect the quality of sleep, which in turn affects the health and luck of those who sleep there.

Allowing a little morning sun on the bed will energise its qi which in turn promote good health and relationship.

Avoid bedrooms that have an irregular shape. Missing corners or pillars with sharp edges that tend to create destructive energy.

Bed should always be placed against a solid wall or use a headboard as a support.

Avoid having too many open shelves in the bedroom. Open shelves resemble the edge of a knife and should be covered up with doors

Sleeping under a rotating ceiling fan or a pointed ceiling light tends to radiate negative vibes that will affect one's health.

Position your bed carefully as it is inauspicious to overlook the toilet bowl. Foul odour and water vapour that is rushing towards the direction of the bed would bring forth ill health and bad luck.

One should avoid sleeping under an exposed beam or overhanging cabinets. The exertion of a downward pressure on the head will cause nightmares and headaches.

Placing sharp objects (like swords or scissors) underneath the bed is a feng shui taboo, which will bring forth a series of misfortunes.

Avoid sleeping with the head in line with the bedroom door. The rushing qi from the door will disrupt your sleep causing restlessness.

The human body is most vulnerable when one is asleep. Sleeping next to a full-length mirror will deflect the human qi. In the night, one may also be frightened by their own reflection.

Avoid placing a television set or computer in the bedroom. Long-term exposure to electromagnetic field emitted by electrical appliances is detrimental to one's health.

Avoid placing the bed directly behind toilet, stove and air conditioning compressor, which will generate negative energy that would disrupt one's sleep and health.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kitchen

In feng shui, the cooking stove is an important area that governs the health, finances and the bearing of offspring. As food is normally prepared in the kitchen, the placement and facing of the cooking stove will directly impact the health of the family. "Health is wealth".

It is a Chinese custom for the family to pray to the Stove God during the Chinese Lunar New Year season. Chinese believed by making offerings of sweet sticky desserts to the Stove God, he would be unable to speak about the wrongdoings of the family in heaven.

Placing the cooking stove without the support of the wall will cause its qi to disperse and facing the stove directly opposite the tap will result in a clash between the elements of water and fire.

The cooking stove should not be visible from the main door or directly facing the toilet signifying financial losses.

For safety reason, one should avoid locating the washing basin in close proximity to the cooking stove. The conflicting elements of both fire and water tend to cause frequent quarrels and bring about financial woes.

The kitchen stove should not be erected under an overhead beam, which tends to affect the health of the female occupants.

It is inauspicious to chop foodstuff or drop cooking utensils on the cooking stove. Always keep the burners of the cooking stove clean and in working order.

Bedroom Feng Shui for Kids

Using a good Feng Shui in your kids' bedroom can create a healthy and positive energy for your children. Good Feng Shui tips can increase your child's energy and improve his/her concentration on education. The best way is to keep a separate room between playroom, study room and bedroom. Unfortunately, most of us have limitations in terms of room so the bedroom, study room, and playroom are usually in the same place.

The western or eastern side of your home is the most ideal place to be for your child's bedroom. If it is possible, give the east bedroom for your sons and west bedroom for your daughters. The Feng Shui of your child's bedroom can have a major impact on their future welfare and education. It is good to develop habits of good Feng Shui while they are still young.

Below are some Feng Shui tips for your child's bedroom:

Keep the bedroom noise free and clean.
You should not put a mirror facing directly to the bed.
You should place the bed where it is not too close to windows or doors. There should be enough space to walk beside the bed.
You should consider avoiding bunk beds. Wooden beds will be better than metal beds.
Use a soft light-colored bed sheet on your child's bed.
Put a positive nuanced picture, like a happy family photo overlooking the child's bed. This will make your child feel safe and comfortable while sleeping.
The color of your child's bedroom should be warm and natural. Colors like light blue, light green, light pink, and yellow light are a few good examples.
Do not put sharp-edged furniture in your child's bedroom as it can generate bad energy.
You should avoid using objects with themes such hostile battle scenes, wild animals or sword in child's bedrooms.
It is no need to put a TV, computer, radio, or game consoles in your child's bedroom.
Make sure electrical items are on a good distance from the bed.
Do not put too many furniture in your child's bedroom.
Do not put bookshelves in bed or overlooking the bed.
Trash should be placed outside the bedroom, rather than in the bedroom.
There is no need to maintain large living plants in the child's bedroom.

If you want your children grow up healthy, happy, intelligent, and disciplined, then use Feng Shui in your child's bedroom.
